NBA Playoffs 2020: 5 reasons the Denver Nuggets can win it all
By Ian Levy
3. Jamal Murray
Four years into his NBA career, Jamal Murray is still searching for the kind of consistency that would make him one of the league’s elite creators. He was much more effective inside the arc this season, creating more opportunities off the dribble and getting himself to the free-throw line more often. But his 3-point percentage fell precipitously and he had as many clunkers (five games in single figures) as he did huge performances (six games scoring 30+).
Murray had several enormous games in last season’s playoff run and even if consistently elite play continues to escape him, he has those moments. A championship run for the Nuggets is going to come with the steamrolling the competition. They’re going to win some and they’re going to lose some. If they’re going to win enough, it means stealing some games they probably shouldn’t, the kind of game where you need a flamethrower to step up and do something crazy like drop 21 points in the fourth quarter.
