Five contending NFL teams could have difficult decisions to make.

When it comes to training camp roster cuts, NFL teams will have less evidence from practices with which to make the tough decisions due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

That may play into the hands of veterans on the roster bubble, who normally at this time of the year would perhaps already be fearing for their job given how quickly hype around rookies can build even during OTAs and minicamp.

In 2020, though, later-round rookies and undrafted free agents have a much smaller window to potentially steal a spot on the final 53.

However, this remains a year where veterans entering the final years of their contracts can ill-afford to take their place on the team for granted.

Indeed, with the impact of COVID-19 could potentially have on the NFL salary cap, which may shrink significantly for 2021, and several franchises needing to negotiate lucrative extensions for premium players, there are likely to still be some surprise names looking for a new team.

Here we look at five players who are candidates to lose their place on the 53, all of whom come from teams expected to be competing in the playoffs in the coming season.
