The Redskins are going to be bad this year, there’s no sugarcoating that. Let’s talk about one player that we are all hoping will breakout.

Derrius Guice (currently ranked as RB30): If not now, then when? Highly touted out of LSU, Derrius had all the skills and intangibles to be a dominant running back in the NFL. Unfortunately, luck was not on his side.

Guice has had an unfortunate young career, constantly riddled with injuries. Just when it looks like he will be ready to take over as the workhorse running back, he suffers another injury, another setback to his breakout.

I am not saying to go all in and draft Derrius Guice early in your drafts. I feel as though he’s a wild-card play. Let’s say you are getting into the 8-10 round range and you already have two to three trustworthy running backs, I wouldn’t mind using a pick on Derrius. He certainly has the talent to breakout this year, the only struggle will be whether he is on the field or not.

I don’t advise using a pick on Derrius if you are going to count on him to start Week 1 for your fantasy lineup. Heck, I don’t advise anyone starting a single Washington Redskin to start the year (maybe Terry McLaurin….but that’s about it). Given his draft position, a healthy Derrius in your lineup could be the difference between you not making the playoffs and you winning it all.

If you have any other players from the NFC East that you see having a breakout season, leave them in the comments below.
