FSU football player gets job at Chick-fil-A for a super inspiring reason
By John Buhler
FSU football’s Armani Kerr got a job at Chick-fil-A for a great reason.
When football ends for FSU’s Armani Kerr, he knows exactly what he wants to do with his life.
The former FSU walk-on graduated this spring with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He plans to work on his Master of Business Administration degree while playing for the Florida State Seminoles this fall. During a very chaotic spring and summer for all, Kerr has found yet another way to better himself and chase his dreams. He is working part-time at Chick-fil-A.
On Tuesday evening, Kerr tweeted out an important message of how in a few years he plans to be a franchisee and own a few Chick-fil-As. So he has decided during this global pandemic to get a part-time job working at a Chick-fil-A to learn as much as he can about what it takes to run an establishment of this particular fast-food franchise.
“In the next five to 10 years, I plan to own a few Chick-fil-A franchises by the grace of God, so I decided to get a part-time job to learn the in and outs of running one,” tweeted Kerr. “I’m here to tell you that you can do whatever you put your mind to in life, don’t let no one tell you what you can’t do.”
“I realize that I love football, but football doesn’t define me, football is something that I do. I am more than an athlete. I am a successful young black man. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for me in the future.”
Armani Kerr getting a part-time job at Chick-fil-A is what it’s all about.
Kerr grew up in an area of Miami where most people don’t go to college. Despite being a high school standout, he originally had to go the junior college route. After two years at Tallahassee Community College, Kerr walked on to the Florida State football program. One of his mentors is former FSU All-American Ernie Sims, who has been there every step of the way with Kerr.
“Armani is a good young man,” Sims said. “Hard worker and determined to make something of his life. I’m proud of what he has accomplished, and I know he will continue to progress in his life.”
And it wasn’t just Sims who was inspired by Kerr’s dream. His new head coach Mike Norvell quote tweeted Kerr’s original message with “#MoreThanAnAthlete so proud of you Armani and your drive for success! #KeepCLIMBing.”
With one more year left as a student-athlete, Kerr looks to make the most of it. He already has a bachelor’s degree in one hand and a dream career outside of football in sight. Kerr will one day be the proud owner of several Chick-fil-A franchises. He’s put in the work to be successful up to this point, on the field and in the classroom. How can you not be inspired by him pursuing his dream?
With FSU football fully supporting Kerr’s dream of being a Chick-fil-A franchisee, it will happen.
