Walter Camp Preseason All-American Team: Trevor Lawrence picked over Justin Fields
By John Buhler
Trevor Lawrence is a 2020 preseason First-Team All-American quarterback.
Trevor Lawrence has been named a Walter Camp preseason All-American.
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as Lawrence is the star quarterback on the presumptive favorite to win the College Football Playoff this postseason. In his first two seasons as the Clemson starter, he has played in the title bout twice, going 1-1 in those national championships. His only loss as a starter came last season vs. the LSU Tigers for the national title.
Along with Lawrence, there are several notable names that make up the Walter Camp Preseason All-American Team. On offense, you will find last year’s Biletnikoff winner in LSU wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, as well asl last year’s Outland Trophy winner in Oregon Ducks offensive tackle Penei Sewell. Along with Lawrence, these guys feel like top-five picks in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Let’s take a look at see who makes up the rest of the Walter Camp Preseason All-American Team on offense and defense.

Good luck scoring any points on this bunch, as Sewell’s Oregon teammate Kayvon Thibodeaux, Miami’s Gregory Rousseau and Florida State’s Marvin Wilson comprise three-fourths of the First Team’s defensive line. Chase’s LSU teammate Derek Stingley Jr. highlights the back-end of this illustrious Preseason All-American First-Team Defense.
Walter Camp also released an entire Second-Team All-American squad as well. Highlighting the offense include Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Justin Fields, Alabama running back Najee Harris and Stanford Cardinal offensive lineman Walker Little. Defensive standouts include Alabama linebacker Dylan Moses and Ohio State defensive back Shaun Wade.
The only thing we know is the All-American Teams at the end of the year will look nothing like this.
