Oh, the Washington Redskins…what in the hell are we going to do with you? As much as owner Daniel Snyder says it’s not time, it’s time. Given the political climate we live in and one were social justice and racial equality is at the forefront, we can’t have a blatantly racist nickname for the professional football team in the nation’s capital any longer.

2020 needs to be the last year they’re called this. This isn’t a nickname you can try to convince us its something that it’s not. There is no rebrand you can do to save this nickname.

With Washington, you’re just a more offensive version of what the MLB has in the Cleveland Indians. You just cannot roll with that any more. Whether it be the Generals, the Senators, the Stars, the Stripes or whatever you come up with, it would certainly be an improvement over whatever this is.

Keep the color scheme, because burgundy and gold looks great. Maybe become the Washington Hogs to honor the iconic offensive line y’all had under Pro Football Hall of Fame head coach Joe Gibbs. There is no proud history with a nickname like Redskins. All it says to the world is you’re cool with being ignorant and will continue to be disrespectful to all Native Americans.
