The Ravens enter the 2020 season as the favorites to win the AFC North, but the Steelers have a strong chance to unseat Baltimore atop the division.

Ben Roethlisberger’s injury cost the Pittsburgh Steelers any chance they had of competing with the Baltimore Ravens for the AFC North crown in 2019. Mike Tomlin and his team are desperate to regain the top spot in their own division in 2020.

It’s easy to see why the Ravens are the favorites to repeat. They did, after all, finish 14-2 a season ago. That doesn’t mean the Steelers should be forgotten about. Read on to discover the top five reasons why Pittsburgh can beat the odds and finish atop the AFC North.

5. The Bengals and Browns can win games

The Ravens and Steelers aren’t the only two teams who can make noise in this division. The Browns are primed for a bounceback season after their offseason additions. The Bengals could sport a top-10 offense with Joe Burrow at the controls.

The balance of the teams in the AFC North should hold the win total required to win the division down this season. In other words, it’s unlikely that any team will win 14 games this year. Instead, look for 10 or 11 wins to be good enough to win the division.

That’s a mark the Steelers can achieve with any measure of good luck. They are a tough-minded group that will keep themselves in every game. On the other hand, they might lack the elite playmakers required to dominate opponents on a weekly basis.

Pittsburgh will be the team that benefits most from the intense competition inside the AFC North in 2020. This could be the most unpredictable division in the NFL. The Steelers’ ability to roll with the punches will give them an advantage over Baltimore and the rest of their competitors.
