4. The Kansas City Chiefs have lethal speed on offense.

One of the oldest adages in sports is that you can’t teach speed. Teams can help their players improve techniques like blocking and route running, but there is no way to coach a player to run faster.

The Chiefs have become a pinball machine on offense thanks to their emphasis on acquiring as many fast players as possible. The biggest game-breaker in Kansas City’s offense is wideout Tyreek Hill, who can blow the top off of any defense he sees.

Other fast receivers like Sammy Watkins, Demarcus Robinson and Mecole Hardman make it virtually impossible to cover the Chiefs without equally athletic cornerbacks. Kansas City also added another matchup nightmare in the draft, adding running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire to bolster the backfield.

With speed demons across the formation, the potential for a game-breaking play exists on every snap for Kansas City. That is a huge edge for the Chiefs in an age where the NFL’s rules skew heavily towards supporting the offense.
