Michigan football schedule 2020: Predicting every Michigan Wolverines game
Washington and Wisconsin are early tests on the Michigan football schedule.
Sep. 5 at Washington
This is a tough ask for Michigan to travel to Washington on the first game of the season and come out victorious. Sure the Huskies had to replace college football coaching legend Chris Petersen with Jimmy Lake, but this Huskies squad is still going to be dangerous. Michigan is going to have to control the time of possession as presumed starter Jacob Sirmon for the Huskies has a big arm that could hurt the Wolverines. The pass defense will be Michigan’s strength though. So while Washington should have a solid interior defense, Michigan squeaks out a road win behind their talented backfield.
Sep. 12 vs Ball State
Ball State just barely missed out on a bowl game last season going 5-7 despite a hot start to the season. This Cardinal team should be a little bit better than last year’s version but it won’t be enough to pull off a stunning upset at the Big House. Dylan McCaffrey has the best game of his young career so far, shaking off a questionable performance in a tight win against Washington.
Sep. 19 vs Arkansas State
Arkansas State has had an impressive run under head coach Blake Anderson as he heads into his 7th season at the helm of the Red Wolves. They have had a record of 46-30, never missing a bowl game. This is going to be a solid team heading up to Ann Arbor but they just won’t have the talent to match what the Wolverines put on the field. I wouldn’t be surprised if this game is close after a quarter or even a half. But the Wolverines will eventually pull away for their third win of the season.
Final Score: Arkansas State 17, Michigan 41
Sep. 26 vs Wisconsin
Closing out the month of September the Wolverines have a huge test in welcoming Wisconsin into the Big House. They were trounced 35-14 in Madison last year in one of the more embarrassing performances of the 2019 college football season. This year, however, the Wolverines won’t have to worry about Jonathan Taylor gashing their interior defense again and with the better running back core, Michigan beats Wisconsin at their own game.
