Michigan football schedule 2020: Predicting every Michigan Wolverines game
As always, it all comes down to Ohio State at the end of the year for Michigan.
Nov. 7 vs Maryland
Maryland is always one of those teams that shows some promise at the beginning of the year but falters as the season goes on. There is nothing that tells me that the Terrapins won’t be just playing as a spoiler against the Wolverines this season. Maryland’s style will play right into the hands of what Harbaugh wants to do, and Michigan quite literally runs away with this one.
Nov.14 at Rutgers
Are we even sure that Rutgers would win the MAC at this point? I’m surely not and that is plenty enough to write the Scarlet Knights off fairly quickly. Sure it is a home game for them, but that won’t matter much. Michigan will basically use this game as a live practice as they prepare for a season deciding game in two weeks.
Nov. 21 vs Indiana
Indiana began to delve into being a respectable team in Big Ten last year with head coach Tom Allen’s most successful year since being hired. The Hoosiers have always been dangerous on offense with a high flying passing attack. It’s the defense that has always let them down and that wasn’t any different last season. They won eight games and their offense has a good chance of being even better this year. That being said, Michigan’s strength should be in defending the pass this season, and having already played a better passing offense in Minnesota, they will be ready.
Nov. 28 at Ohio State
This is the big one right? Even when there is no chance of getting to the Big Ten Championship, this is always the game where Michigan can finally prove they can hang with Ohio State. The last two years have been flat out embarrassing to put it lightly, but with a Big Ten title on the line and the last two years as a reference, I don’t think this one ends up as sour.
Still, the Buckeyes are clearly heads and shoulders above Michigan right now in almost every phase of the game, most notably coaching. Michigan will try to control possession, but Heisman candidate Justin Fields will be too much for the Wolverines to handle again this year. Look for newcomer Trey Sermon to do some work on a questionable interior defense as well as Ohio State walks away with their ninth straight win over Michigan.
Final Record Prediction: 10-2
