Jadon Sancho left Manchester City in search of first-team football. He may return to the English giants as a budding global superstar.

Jadon Sancho may not have left Manchester City under sparkling circumstances, heading abroad in search of first-team action to start his career, but the English starlet also didn’t burn any bridges. That’s why he could be set to make a sensational return to play for Pep Guardiola this summer.

A report in England claim that Manchester United currently lead the race for the Borussia Dortmund star, but City are certainly lurking in the background. More importantly, Sancho has made it clear that he’s open to a return to City under the proper circumstances.

City certainly play a style of football that would be perfect for Sancho’s talents. Guardiola isn’t afraid to allow his attacking players to take on opponents with the ball at their feet. Sancho’s ability to dribble past quality defenders has allowed him to become an absolute star in the Bundesliga.

Sancho’s willingness to pass the ball also would also fit perfectly into City’s style. His 16 assists on the year are a big reason why Dortmund currently sit at second place in the Bundesliga table. The 20-year-old is the rare attacking player who seems to derive equal joy from scoring goals on his own or helping his teammates find the back of the net.

Any club that wants to pry him away from Dortmund this summer must be prepared to pay a hefty transfer fee. The price for Sancho is expected to easily exceed £100 million despite the effect the global pandemic is expected to have on summer transfer fees. It’s very likely that purchasing Sancho will cost a club like City somewhere in the range of £125 million when all is said and done.

City may not need to add an attacker like Sancho at that price, but they don’t want to see him play for a Premier League rival either. That’s why Guardiola could make a strong suggestion to the Manchester City board that Sancho should be their top transfer priority of the summer.

Sancho’s first tour of duty at City didn’t go perfectly, but it’s easy to envision a scenario where his second tenure at the club goes perfectly. He’s just the sort of electric attacking talent that Guardiola has a strong history of turning into a world-class star.
