Seeing Lamar Jackson getting tackled over a jet ski is not great at all.

Yes, this is something that actually happened. The Baltimore Ravens superstar quarterback and reigning NFL MVP was seen playing beach football over the weekend. While that’s cool and all, you know what absolutely wasn’t? Watching Jackson getting tackled into the water over the top of a jet ski. The Ravens brass has to be hating this video so, so much right now.

If Jackson is able to build on his MVP campaign in year three in the league, Baltimore can win its third Super Bowl in franchise history. Even though the Ravens haven’t won a playoff game with Jackson as their star quarterback, they have the roster capable of beating anyone. Unfortunately, they won’t win upwards of 14 games again with Robert Griffin III filling in for an injured Jackson.

While this isn’t on par with Ben Roethlisberger going on a motorcycle joyride or Jason Pierre-Paul having some fun with fireworks, why is Jackson putting himself in position to get himself hurt this offseason? If he wants to play some beach football, just have him be the all-time quarterback and throw darts to his friends from a clean pocket in the sand. It’s not that hard to figure out!

It doesn’t matter if he’s having fun, you can’t be this inherently reckless if you’re a franchise quarterback of a Super Bowl-contending team. Sure, there are a lot worse things Jackson could be doing than playing some beach football with his friends, but football is an unforgiving sport. One injury can completely change the narrative of your career. Just ask Griffin what that’s like.

If you’re trying to defend this, you don’t get it, do you? Without Jackson, the Ravens become irrelevant. They’re not winning the AFC North and they’re not winning a Super Bowl anytime soon. He is your golden ticket to keeping your championship window open for the next decade. Should Jackson lose his one-of-a-kind mobility, he’s not the same player. He’s no longer Action Jackson.

It seems as though Jackson got lucky because he didn’t make contract with the jet ski and had his fall broken by the water. But could you even imagine if his foot got caught on the throttle? He could have torn ever tiny ligament in his foot and he wouldn’t be playing in 2020. Sure, the Ravens could sign Cam Newton or even Colin Kaepernick, but they wouldn’t be a threat in the AFC.

Jackson should be thanking his lucky stars he didn’t jeopardize his career with a jet ski tackle.
