3. Will the new-look offensive line cause problems?

While the Bulldogs will undoubtedly be looking for Zamir White and James Cook to bolster the run game and while they will hope that Jamie Newman has the goods to be an upgrade at quarterback, the simple truth is that they might not be the most critical component to the success of the offense. Former Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke is the new offensive line coach in Athens and he has a tall task ahead of him in his first season at the position. Losing four starters on the offensive line is tough in its own right, which is what Georgia is facing from the 2019 to 2020 season. However, that’s even more difficult when they have to replace both tackles, both of whom were first-round picks in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Guard Ben Cleveland is the lone returning starter from last year’s offensive line in his redshirt senior season. And it’s expected that Justin Shaffer and Trey Hill will fill in the interior with junior Jamaree Salyer at one tackle spot. The question is if redshirt freshman Xavier Truss or true freshman Broderick Jones will fill in at the other tackle hole.

Whoever it is, there will be a tough task ahead to live up to the caliber of players that comprised the unit that started throughout the 2019 season. And with new pieces at running back and quarterback, Georgia will be counting on those inexperienced players to step up and lead the way.
