The BYU football schedule gets tougher again in November.

Nov. 6 at Boise State

861. 45. 895. Prediction. 20

As an Independent, the BYU Cougars have to contend with members of the Group of Five conferences to make a New Year’s Six Bowl and taking on the Boise State Broncos, a team who is always in discussion for an NY6 Bowl, is a smart scheduling move, giving BYU a head-to-head tiebreaker if it were to come down to that. But is BYU at the point to contend with Boise State on a consistent basis? The Cougars win over the Broncos in 2019 seems to be just a blip in the series matchup, as Boise State takes control of the game early and never let go, dropping BYU back below .500 once again. Boise State, 45-20.

Nov. 14 vs San Diego State

901. 31. 861. Prediction. 24

From 1978 to 2010, the BYU Cougars and the San Diego State Aztecs were members of the same conference, first the WAC and then the Mountain West Conference. During that time, BYU controlled the series and the conferences. Since BYU’s departure after the 2010 season, these two teams have only met twice, splitting the meetings, with the Aztecs winning the most recently last season. 13-3 was the final score of that game but don’t expect anything similar, not even the result. The game isn’t as close as the score says and BYU finds itself at .500 and one game away from bowl eligibility. BYU, 31-27.

Nov. 21 vs North Alabama

BYU just needs one more win to become bowl eligible and with North Alabama being that determining factor, I’m pretty sure it’s safe to say that the Cougars will be bowling this postseason. Add this FCS opponent plus Senior Day, and you get a blowout victory in favor of the Cougars. BYU, 55 to 13.

Nov. 28 at Stanford

861. 26. 871. Final/OT. 23

BYU is now bowl eligible and has the chance to end the regular season with a big-time win over Stanford. It would secure a winning season and bring the Cougars record against Power Five schools in 2020 to 3-3 (seems like .500 will be the storyline of the 2020 season for BYU). Stanford is coming off one of their worst seasons since 2007, finishing 11th in the Pac-12. Stanford should have a bounce-back season but don’t expect any fireworks in their season or in this game. Both defense and special teams take control of this game, giving BYU their first overtime game of the season. BYU’s field goal is one-upped by a Stanford touchdown, as the Cougars lose their regular-season finale, finishing the season 6-6. Stanford, 26 to 23 OT.

Dec. 14 SoFi Hawaii Bowl vs Hawaii

41. 898. 42. 861. Prediction

After a grueling season with one of the toughest schedules in the nation, the BYU Cougars are bowl bound and are making a second consecutive trip to take on the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in the SoFi Hawaii Bowl. Last season, both offenses came to play with Hawaii winning 38 to 34. In this matchup, both offenses show up again but the BYU Tigers do what they do best, winning after a loss, and take home the close victory, finishing the season one game above .500. BYU, 42-41.

Prediction: 7-6, SoFi Hawaii Bowl Victory
