3. The Steelers and Browns have improved significantly

One big reason why the Ravens were able to post 14 regular-season wins last year was the lack of quality opposition inside their own division. In particular, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns were both significantly worse than people expected.

Pittsburgh will clearly be boosted by the return of Ben Roethlisberger under center. He only played two games for the Steelers a year ago. Getting him back on the field will make them division title contenders once again.

The Browns were everyone’s trendy pick to make the playoffs last year, but failing to protect Baker Mayfield cost them dearly. Signing Jack Conklin in free agency and spending a first-round pick on Jedrick Wills turns Cleveland’s offensive line from a weakness to a potential strength. That should equal more wins for Mayfield and his teammates in 2020.

The Ravens feasted on the weak teams in their division last year, but they won’t have that luxury this season. A more competitive AFC North race is going to push Baltimore’s win total down. A 10-win team might be able to win the hotly contested division race this year.
