Here’s what a Jamal Adams trade with the Chiefs would look like

The Jets’ trade demands for Jamal Adams are bound to be high, but the Chiefs have the capital to make a deal happen.

As if the Kansas City Chiefs need any more ammo as they chase a dynasty few franchises have achieved in recent years outside of Foxborough.

Kansas City was one of seven teams listed as potential suitors for New York Jets All-Pro safety Jamal Adams, who has reiterated his interest in a parting of ways.

If the Chiefs were to make an offer for Adams, it would actually be quite manageable on their salary cap right now, as the 24-year-old is only scheduled to earn $825,000 this season, per Spotrac. However, that number increases to over $8 million in 2021, not to mention the extension Adams hopes comes with a trade elsewhere.

What would a Jets-Chiefs trade for Jamal Adams look like?

The Jets are chasing a first-round pick and then some for Adams, and given the number of interested teams and the fact that the LSU product has two years left on his deal, they’re likely to receive just that. However, what the Chiefs have that other suitors lack is a young safety prospect they can dish to New York in return.

Juan Thornhill looked like a productive member of the Chiefs’ secondary before tearing his ACL last season. He should be involved in any offer to the Jets, along with their 2021 first-round pick. This, the Chiefs should hope, eliminates any need for another mid-round selection to be sent back to the Meadowlands for Adams. It’s a risky proposal, but one Kansas City needs to explore as to not give away its entire 2021 NFL Draft war chest in exchange for one player.

If the Chiefs were to land Adams, they’d pair him with Tyrann Mathieu in their defensive backfield, creating one of the scariest secondaries in the entire NFL. What’s not to love?
