Chicago Bears

With the Bears having declined Mitchell Trubisky’s fifth-year option, they are almost certain to be in the quarterback market next offseason regardless of how Nick Foles performs in 2020, presuming he wins the starting job.

The Bears being in position to target one of the 2021 draft’s top quarterbacks hinges on a roster that has been competitive over the last two seasons despite the quarterback play enduring a downturn in the coming season.

Whether that is possible in an NFC North division where no team tangibly improved in the offseason remains to be seen, but Chicago can be confident of Lance being an excellent fit under center.

Lance is already vastly experienced operating in cold weather having played in the Missouri Valley Football Conference for the Bison. He would provide head coach Matt Nagy the opportunity to build a diverse offense around a quarterback whose running threat could make a Bears ground game featuring David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen much more dynamic.

Beyond the potential of incorporating zone-read and option plays, simply having a young quarterback who is accurate enough to build a rapport with the likes of Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller would be a massive upgrade for the Bears.

Chicago is not expected to contend in 2020 but Lance could turn them into a force in 2021.
