NFL quarterback power rankings

21. Cleveland Browns (Baker Mayfield)

Last offseason, Baker Mayfield was the talk of the league. Could he win MVP? Is he the answer for the Browns? How well can he play with a stacked offense?

Well, most of those questions remain unanswered after a rather tumultuous 2019 season where he and the Browns regressed. Now, Mayfield has a long list of people to prove wrong in 2020 under new head coach Kevin Stefanski.

20. Indianapolis Colts (Philip Rivers)

The significance of Philip Rivers to the Colts varies depending on who you talk to. Some believe he punches the team’s contention ticket, while others think general manager Chris Ballard is reaching to try and fill the sudden hole Andrew Luck left when he retired.

Rivers is 38 years old, but he will operate behind one of the best lines in the NFL. His experience will translate well, and he does give the team a great shot to at least contend in 2020. He might not have too much left in the tank, but he can still play for the time being.

19. Las Vegas Raiders (Derek Carr)

Placing Derek Carr this far down, and below some of the names who will shortly follow, does seem harsh. Though, his stock has dipped a ton since the 2016 season.

Carr is still a more-than-capable quarterback. However, he just appears to be stuck with the Raiders. Jon Gruden came in and rebuilt, leaving Carr to play with a lot of inexperienced players.

Carr is primed for a comeback season, and he can find himself back on the radar with the league’s best with a strong 2020 campaign. Last year, he threw for the most passing yards and completed the highest percentage of passes in his career.
