NFL quarterback power rankings

6. Green Bay Packers (Aaron Rodgers)

The last few years of Aaron Rodgers’ career have been strange. He sustained an injury in 2017, and the offense changed. Playing off the run game more, Rodgers touchdown numbers have dropped since 2016.

However, that does not mean Rodgers is no longer an elite quarterback, but it seems that some believe that’s the case. Yes, he has taken a step back, but he is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, especially if the Packers were to add at the receiver position.

5. Houston Texans (Deshaun Watson)

Coming off consecutive Pro Bowl campaigns, Watson has a career record of 24-13-0, with a 1-2 record in the playoffs. Constantly dealing with pressure, he has still been a great passer when given time. In fact, he has still done well even without much time, creating looks out of the pocket.

Watson carries risk because he tries to create so many plays, and because he has been sacked 125 times in three seasons. Sometimes, this leads to holding the ball too long and getting sacked or forcing ill-advised throws into coverage.

If he can eliminate the mistakes and the offensive line can protect him in 2020, the 24-year-old could continue his ascent into superstardom.

4. New Orleans Saints (Drew Brees)

Based on traditional stats, there has not been a better quarterback since 2006 when Drew Brees joined the New Orleans Saints. During that span, he leads in completion percentage (68.75%), yards (65,068), and touchdowns (467). He is fourth in quarterback rating with 101.3, behind Rodgers, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes.

Brees has been efficient, accurate, and has limited his mistakes. For the past four seasons, he has completed at least 70% of his throws.

Now 41 years old, he will want to add another Super Bowl win to his legacy. As one of the top five quarterbacks in the NFL, he gives his team a strong chance to do so.
