Pique’s mood is unlikely to have been improved by the series of debatable decisions that went in Madrid’s favor against Real Sociedad on Sunday, or by the news that his team will again be without Sergi Roberto and Frenkie De Jong here.
Although Athletic Club are one of the few La Liga sides who seemingly have little left to play for this season, with no chance of being relegated and only a slim hope of European qualification, this is still likely to be a tough game for Barcelona. Indeed, Gaizka Garitano’s team have already beaten them twice in the current campaign, first in the league and then again in the Copa del Rey.
