2. Does Kellen Mond take a big step forward?

Anyone who says that quarterback Kellen Mond has been bad over the years at Texas A&M isn’t paying attention or has a vendetta against him. He’s blessed with a ton of tools, particularly a long, athletic frame and he’s found the ways to make those tools effective. We even saw that he can be a productive player in the SEC last season, despite the aforementioned nightmare of a schedule.

Mond finished the season completing 61.6 percent of his passes for 2,897 yards, 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions while also rushing for 501 yards and eight scores. The Texas A&M quarterback produced. The problem, though, is that Mond needs to be better than productive or even good. With his talent and with what the offense needs, Mond needs to be closer to great.

Some have said that Mond took a step back from his sophomore to junior seasons, though I find that unfair. However, it is fair to say that he didn’t take a big leap forward, which many had hoped he would. Now with weapons and a running game that should be effective, it’s all on the quarterback to truly step into the limelight as a star.

Honestly, Mond becoming a star for Texas A&M football simply comes down to him living up to his potential. He needs to process the field better, which will lead to fewer turnovers. More importantly, he needs to take advantage of his physical gifts, especially with his legs. If that happens, this is going to be a team that can contend with any group in the country.
