Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski released a powerful Black Lives Matter video.

Black Lives Matter.

Those were the opening words said by Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski in a video posted to the Duke basketball Twitter account on Friday afternoon.

Coach K spoke passionately about Black Lives Matter and how this isn’t a political statement but rather a statement on human rights. Coach K said Black Lives Matter throughout the 2:46 video that featured the coach who is arguably the face of men’s college basketball.

“Do we not see the problem that has been with our problem for four centuries? Do we not see systemic racism and social injustice? … We all see that. It’s manifested in so many ways. … And has been there for four centuries.”

“No problem is solved unless you acknowledge the problem. If you acknowledge it, you have the duty to solve it.”

Coach K closed with a prayer he used to say when a cadet at West Point when he says the country took the easier wrong for four centuries. It’s time to choose the harder right.

“It is time to end systemic racism and social injustice. It’s time. Black Lives Matter.”

The comments are commendable by Coach K who also said he learned and listened a lot over the last few weeks in the wake of the highly-publicized killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and so many more.

Their deaths have led to nationwide and global protests, marches and rallies calling for reform and an end to police brutality, social injustice and systemic racism.

Duke basketball fans thank Coach K for his message.
