NBA Mock Draft 5.0: How high can Obi Toppin fly?
By Ian Levy
Anthony was an extremely high-profile prospect at the beginning of the year but largely underwhelmed in his freshman season. North Carolina had one of its worst seasons in recent memory and Anthony struggled with scoring efficiency and reliably creating for those around him — he shot just 40.2 percent on 2-pointers and had nearly as many turnovers (77) as assists (88). But he still looks like he could be a reliable defender and shooter at the next level and, with his strong frame and touch, might be more effective as a creator and finisher with other NBA-level scorers around him. (His UNC teammates shot just 29.1 percent on 3s this season).
In theory, the Wizards have a solid backcourt with Bradley Beal taking a step towards stardom and John Wall hopefully returning healthy. However, Wall’s effectiveness at this point is a huge question and it’s not outside the real of possibility that Beal asks out or a trade offer for him materializes that’s too good to pass up. Anthony works as a third guard with that tandem but he could also be a piece for the future if Washington has to pivot towards a tear-down.
