Houston Texans: Deshaun Watson

Bill O’Brien traded Watson’s best weapon away this offseason, but that gives his quarterback a unique chance to overcome nearly insurmountable odds in 2020. If Watson can drag this offense to a top-5 NFL finish he deserves the keys to the city of Houston.

His ability to torment defenses with his legs and his arm make him a threat to make magic happen on every snap. Leading the Texans to 12 wins and throwing for over 5,000 yards would make him a very strong MVP candidate.

Indianapolis Colts: T.Y. Hilton

The Colts firmly believe that acquiring Philip Rivers is going to upgrade their passing attack. If that happens, it will require Hilton to enjoy his best season as a professional.

To make that happen, he’ll need to stay healthy for a full season. The six games he missed in 2019 really hurt the Colts’ chances of making a playoff run. Hilton needs to play 16 games and flirt with 2,000 receiving yards to take home the hardware.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Josh Allen

Allen is definitely one of the biggest long shots on this list. The Jaguars offense just doesn’t have a realistic MVP candidate though. That makes the talented edge rusher the right choice.

To merit legitimate MVP consideration he’ll need to lead his team to the playoffs and the NFL in sacks. He might need to get to the quarterback 20 times or more to garner enough votes.

Tennessee Titans: Derrick Henry

The Titans’ offensive game plan revolves around Henry bludgeoning opposing defenses into submission. In other words, he’ll get more than enough carries to produce the yards and touchdowns required to win the MVP Award. The only question is whether or not he can play at a high level for another season with such a heavy workload.
