Ohio State Buckeyes. player. Scouting Report. QB. 2. 812. Pick Analysis. Justin Fields

While it would be cool to see Kedon Slovis, Sam Howell, Trey Lance and Jamie Newman play at a Pro Bowl-level in the NFL, it is a pre-requisite for Justin Fields at Ohio State. If Fields doesn’t garner at least a handful of Pro Bowl nods in his NFL career, it will only be seen as a major letdown. What he did in his first year as the Buckeyes’ starting quarterback was remarkable.

Fields completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 3,273 yards, 41 touchdowns and only three interceptions. He also ran the ball 137 times for 484 yards and 10 additional trips to pay dirt. Fields finished third in Heisman Trophy voting, earning Second-Team All-American honors and taking home Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year. He will be a Heisman finalist again this year.

Fields’ Buckeyes are favored once again to win the Big Ten and play in the College Football Playoff. Anything short of a national title appearance would be seen as a major disappointment for Ryan Day’s Ohio State program. The Buckeyes should get to Indianapolis with one or fewer loss and destroy whoever comes out of the Big Ten West for yet another conference title.

Fields projects as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He’ll end up on some struggling NFL franchise like the Jacksonville Jaguars or the Carolina Panthers, assuming someone doesn’t trade up for him. With his accuracy, agility and on-field awareness, Fields could end up being a better version of Dak Prescott at the NFL level and better thrower of the ball than Deshaun Watson.
