5 reasons Raiders can win with Derek Carr in 2020

Revamped Wide Receiver group

Heading into the 2019 season, the Raiders were supposed to have Antonio Brown as their WR1, with Tyrell Williams at WR2, which would have been Carr’s best wideout duo since Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper. However, Brown never played a single snap with the Raiders, and while Williams played very well early on, he battled through plantar fasciitis for most of the season.

Well, Williams is healthy in 2020, and he can move back to being a WR2, as the team spent their first of two first round picks on Alabama speedster Henry Ruggs III. Ruggs has the kind of gamebreaking ability the Raiders offense was lacking, and later on in the draft, they selected Bryan Edwards, the all-time leader in receiving yards at South Carolina.

Add to the mix Nelson Agholor, who the Raiders added in free agency, and you have the makings of the best wide receiver group Carr has ever played with. Zay Jones has been working out with Carr the past few weeks, and Hunter Renfrow proved as a rookie that he could be a top option, finishing with back-to-back 100-yard games to close out the season.
