12. Utah Jazz: Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert

Both Mitchell and Gobert have their warts, but overall they should still be quite effective in this environment. The Frenchman is a black hole at the rim defensively; no mere mortal will challenge him near the paint. He’s also got offensive value as an excellent screener and roller, which will lead to several easy buckets.

Mitchell is an acceptable first option for this exercise and holds his own against a wide spectrum of players on defense. But how efficient will he be? There’s more space, sure, but he’s not exactly a knockdown shooter from specific ranges. These two can get far with their defense, but Mitchell’s going to have to create a lot of offense.

11. Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis

There’s not too much rocket science with Dallas’ best twosome. Doncic is already a superstar in year two, an exceptional three-level guard in a wing’s body. Porzingis is also unique for his size, a seven-footer who can protect the rim and space the floor.

Luka, Kristaps and a motley of role players has been enough for the Mavs to be a sneaky contender. Boiling it down to their top two makes for an offensive juggernaut. They may be outmatched by a quicker tandem defensively, but they can generate enough points to stick with anyone.
