New York Giants

Golden Tate – We’re not sure why Dave Gettleman thought it a good idea to pay Golden Tate over $37 million for four years when he was already declining at the age of 31, but the file on Gettleman’s questionable decisions is already quite full.

Suffice it to say, the first year didn’t go so hot given Tate’s suspension (49 catches, 676 yards in 11 games) and it won’t get better as Tate ages.

New York Jets

Joe Flacco – Flacco has a couple very good years on his resume with several more as a serviceable starter, but one Super Bowl run has never benefitted a player than the 2012 postseason in which Flacco threw 11 touchdowns without a single interception for the Baltimore Ravens.

Denver was the latest franchise to learn the hard way that Flacco’s finished as a starter in 2019, and at this point, he’s floating by on his accomplishments as a backup for the Jets.

Philadelphia Eagles

Alshon Jeffery – Despite the $15 million cap hit in 2020, Jeffery hasn’t been a game-changing wide receiver for years. Five seasons have passed since he broke the 1,000 receiving yards mark, and he’s never managed more than 850 in a single year in that span.

The Eagles paid through the nose to secure Jeffery as a much-needed target, but instead they’d love for anyone to take the contract away.
