Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. NFC. Carolina Panthers. 2. player. South. 87

Why do the big cats get to have all the fun? Okay, losing is and never will be fun, but the Carolina Panthers join the Detroit Lions as likely participants in the Trevor Lawrence/Justin Fields sweepstakes in the 2021 NFL Draft. Carolina may have a new head coach, a new offensive coordinator and a new quarterback, but the Panthers are going to take a lot of L’s this fall.

We’ve seen it before and we may see it again. This is what happens when you let Matt Rhule coach your football team. It’s not all bad, just ask the Temple Owls or the Baylor Bears how that goes. Rhule tears his teams down the studs. After winning practically zero games in year one, by year three he has his team playing in conference championships and winning big games.

So if you did the math, that would mean the Panthers will be playing in the 2022 NFC Championship game as the underdog. Teddy Bridgewater is fine, but he puts the bridge in bridge quarterback, as that’s the first syllable of his surname. Once Lawrence or Fields calls Charlotte, North Carolina home, people will forget all about Teddy Two Gloves and worship their new star.

Though we should expect valiant efforts each week out of the Panthers, they don’t have enough talent to win more than four or five games this year. If it really hits the fan, they may win only a few. Either way, the Panthers will be picking in the top five on record alone. If owner David Tepper wants his new version of Cam Newton, the Panthers will trade up to the top spot if they can.
