4. Kyle Field – Home of the Texas A&M Aggies – 102, 733

Kyle Field was built for the fans. It is after all home to the “12th man.” There might be no better student section in college football than the one in College Station, Texas. When the Aggies made the move from the Big 12 to the SEC, Kyle field replaced Neyland Stadium as the largest football stadium in the SEC.

Along with being the largest stadium in the Southeastern Conference, the Aggies also hosted the largest SEC game ever attended when they played Ole Miss in 2014. In 1921 the Aggies played the Texas Longhorns in the first football game to ever have live play by play announcing.

As grand a stadium Kyle Field has become, it had very humble beginnings. Its namesake, Edwin Jackson Kyle wanted a field for athletics after being named president of the General Athletics Association in 1904. The University did not provide funds, so he fenced off land given to him for agricultural use and used his own money to buy a covered grandstand for $650.

When the stands were built the students were in full support of naming the new stadium after its founder, and cadets unofficially began calling the new stadium Kyle Field in 1906. It was not until 1956 that the Texas Board of Regents officially named the stadium Kyle Field in honor of EJ Kyle.

From declaring the name of the field in the stadium’s infancy to linking arms and swaying in unison during the Aggie War hymn to the point where the press box moves, Kyle Field has a connection with its fans unlike any other stadium in the country.
