4. Can the Nebraska defense get after the quarterback?

At the top of the depth chart, Nebraska returns a ton of experience on both sides of the ball, which is something you love to see. Having said that, the Cornhuskers struggled in regards to their pass rush last season and two of the departing players, brothers Khalil Davis and Carlos Davis, comprised their two leaders in terms of sacks. The Davis brothers had 12 combined sacks last season. The rest of the team had just 14 sacks combined, which could be a problem as they look to get after the opposing quarterback with any kind of consistency in 2020.

Essentially, a team that was hit-or-miss in terms of getting pressure out of their front seven is now without their two best players in that department. That could be an issue as they now have a total of four new starters in that group.

Having said that, there are some talented bodies with this Huskers front seven that they could possibly bank on. Versatile JoJo Domann could be a nice piece in sub-packages that moves all around while defensive end Ben Stille will be key as he garnered plenty of experience with 14 starts to his credit already.

The biggest key for Nebraska, though, might be young players stepping up. Frost has done a great job recruiting, having two straight top-20 ranked classes, and this will be a critical season in that regard as they try to rotate and find guys who are fresh and able to harass opposing quarterbacks.
