Aaron Jones. 7. player. Scouting Report. RB. Green Bay Packers. 49. Pick Analysis

Jones was not the workhorse Henry was in 2019. The Packers running back carried the ball 236 times compared to Henry’s 303 attempts and the difference in production reflects the disparity in workload, with Jones ending the year with 1,084 yards on the ground.

However, like Henry, Jones also looks primed for a regression in 2020 after the Packers spent premium draft capital on a running back.

The Packers used a second-round pick on A.J. Dillon, a one-dimensional power back out of Boston College. That selection, like much of the Packers’ draft drew a lot of derision and was significant for Jones as it will likely drastically alter his touchdown numbers in 2020.

Jones had 16 rushing touchdowns in 2019, with Dillion set to eat into his red zone workload, expect that tally to be significantly lower this season.

Where Jones may see a bump is in his production as a receiver. He caught 49 of his 68 targets last season for 474 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 9.7 yards per reception.

Because of his greater upside in that area, Jones will receive more run than Dillon on clear passing downs. As he enters the final year of his contract, that may be where Jones looks to demonstrate his value to the Packers and potential suitors. His touchdowns may drop, but Dillon’s arrival could present Jones with the ideal opportunity to show his worth in a league geared towards the passing game.
