It doesn’t sound like Chris Jones is bluffing the Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones could end up sitting out this season

With July 1 officially arriving, that means the clock continues to tick for the Kansas City Chiefs and star defensive lineman Chris Jones. In just two weeks, the deadline will arrive for the two sides to wrap up a long-term deal. From the looks of it, it just doesn’t feel like things are going to go down.

More concerning for the Chiefs, it looks like there’s actually a chance Jones could end up sitting out and not suiting up on Sundays if he doesn’t get the big-money contract he thinks he deserves. Could he actually pull a Le’Veon Bell?

The Chiefs and Chris Jones are hoping to agree to a new deal by July 15

Those are some powerful words from Jones, who has spoken with Bell about how he handled his contract nightmare with the Steelers. As most know, Bell ended up sitting out the 2018 campaign before returning to the field last season to play for the Jets.

If Jones indeed were to sit out and not suit up for a single game in 2020, you better believe his days playing for the reigning Super Bowl champs would come to an end. Of course, Kansas City wants to do everything in its power to prevent that from happening.

At the same time, they still need to give Patrick Mahomes a monster new deal. Can they afford to make both players happy?

Once July 15 arrives, we’ll know for sure if Jones will be making incredible plays once again for Kansas City. If a deal isn’t reached, we may not see the star defensive lineman back in action for a long time.
