Duke basketball: Updated starting lineup predictions for Blue Devils
Projected Duke basketball starting lineup: Wendell Moore
Stanley ended up starting at the two for Duke last season and proved to be a proficient shooter. The Blue Devils saw Stanley knock down 36 percent of his 3-point attempts and averaged 12.6 points per game.
There is a returning option for Duke to start here and that is Moore, who will be entering his sophomore year. The 6-foot-6 guard made an instant impact as a defender, using his length and wingspan to create havoc on that end of the floor.
The big question regarding Moore is his health after a freak hand injury saw him miss nearly a month. Moore will have to step into a much bigger role this season after Duke’s top three scorers all bolted for the pros.
Perimeter shooting wasn’t Moore’s game last season after he knocked down just 21.1 percent of his three-point attempts. Improving his range will allow Moore to make defenses give him more room to operate.
The Blue Devils would also like to see Moore step up as more of a leader much like Jones did as a sophomore. More production combined with intangibles and strong defense makes Moore an integral part of Duke’s lineup.
