With the NBA restart just weeks away, LeBron James is as fit and ready as ever.

In between championing the Black Lives Matter cause and helping his good friend J.R. Smith land a new gig, LeBron James has been busy during his three months without basketball. Yet, despite all of that, he’s found plenty of time to keep his body in playing shape in hopes of a chance at his fourth championship ring and fifth MVP award.

James, who will rejoin teammates Anthony Davis and Smith in Orlando, showed off his playing shape as he got up some practice shots on Thursday.

LeBron James’ playing shape is as good as ever as the Lakers enter the restart as favorites to win it all.

James, Davis and a roster full of capable shooters make the Los Angeles Lakers a tough out, but just as is the case with the bubble, their NBA title chances are fragile given the looming threat of COVID-19 in the state of Florida. With that, LBJ can only control so much, which is an odd experience for a player with ability to bend basketball reality to his will. Unfortunately, having the court vision of Magic Johnson and explosiveness of Julius Erving will only get him so far against a pandemic.

However, his physical fitness will not be a problem in the bubble.

COVID-19 or not, 2020 marks one of LeBron’s last, best chances at another ring to continue to cement his legacy as one of the two best NBA players of all-time. The debate between him and Michael Jordan rages on, and as James has admitted time and time again, MJ’s ghost won’t leave him alone.

James’ fitness routine gives him an edge over the typical career arc of even the greatest NBA stars of their day. Even having missed the end of last season with a groin injury, it’s tough to question LeBron’s durability at 35. The man is shredded.
