If Michigan wants to win big, the Wolverines need to win big in the trenches. One player on the offensive interior they need to seriously look at is four-star guards Drew Kendall from Dedham, Massachusetts. At 6-foot-4 and 255 pounds, the Noble and Greenough School standout is the No. 1 player from Massachusetts, the No. 8 guard and the No. 128 recruit nationally in the 2021 class.
At this time, Kendall may only have 12 offers, but he is looking very hard at five schools including Michigan. The Wolverines’ primary competition for his commitment are the Boston College Eagles, the Duke Blue Devils, the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Virginia Cavaliers. These are all phenomenal schools academically, so that’s clearly not going to be an issue for Kendall in college.
Kendall’s primary recruiter at Michigan is Ed Warinner. Though he has never netted a five-star recruit before, he did land a pair of high-profile four-stars when he was on Urban Meyer’s early Ohio State staffs. Warinner was the primary recruiter on athlete Curtis Samuel out of Brooklyn, New York and the secondary recruiter on cornerback Eli Apple of Voorhees, New Jersey.
If Kendall goes to play for ACC schools like Boston College, Duke or Virginia, no big thing. Frankly, it may be hard for him to pass up playing in-state over in Chestnut Hill. However, Kendall committing to Penn State means he’ll play the Wolverines annually for the next four years. It might be hard to get after the Nittany Lions’ quarterback with Kendall thriving on the offensive interior.
