Rocco Spindler. 2. player. Scouting Report. OG. Clarkston High School (Clarkston, MI). Pick Analysis. 811

Of all the top-tier recruits left on Michigan’s board, here is the one they can’t mess up. Though they may be one other guy who is a more high-profile recruit, Michigan is the leader for guard Rocco Spindler out of Clarkston, Michigan. It’s coming down to pretty much the Wolverines and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for his commitment. Don’t mess this up, Michigan.

The Clarkston High School standout is 6-foot-4.5 and 315 pounds. He is the No. 3 player from Michigan, the No. 3 guard in the country and is the No. 50 player in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite. Along with Michigan and Notre Dame, the three other schools he’s looking at are Ohio State, Oklahoma and Penn State. Two of those schools play in Michigan’s division.

Spindler’s primary recruiter is offensive line coach Ed Warinner with tight ends coach Sherrone Moore serving as his secondary. Having the offensive line coach as the lead with arguably Michigan’s best recruiter backing him up certainly shows how much the Michigan program values Spindler’s commitment. So what are the chances he ends up playing in Ann Arbor?

Unless Michigan drops the ball here, it’s really going to be between the Wolverines and the Irish. If he were to go to South Bend, we know he’d be coached up in the offensive line factory that is Notre Dame football. Allowing Ohio State or Penn State to poach top in-state talent in Michigan is unacceptable. We shouldn’t look at Oklahoma in the Big 12 as anything more than a minor threat.
