5. 57. QB. Chicago Bears. Nick Foles. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

The Bears are another team that have invited a quarterback controversy into their locker room this season. Mitchell Trubisky has been unable to seize the starting job since coming into Chicago as a high draft choice. Foles enjoyed moments of brilliance in Philadelphia before failing to live up to his big-money contract with the Jaguars.

This is another quarterback battle where a backup could seize the starting job before the regular season ever begins. Trubisky’s grip on the No. 1 position on the depth chart is tenuous, at best. It’s easy to see Matt Nagy electing to go into Week 1 with Foles at the controls.

The key for Foles will be to stay healthy. That’s a big reason why he’s never been able to hold down a starting job in his career. The Bears offensive scheme thrives on getting the ball out of their quarterbacks’ hands quickly. That might help Foles reduce the number of hits he’s required to take in the pocket.

If Foles stays healthy, he’s got a great shot to knock off Trubisky. The former North Carolina star’s laughable accuracy with the football makes it difficult for him to lead an efficient offense. Foles doesn’t have a massive arm, but he can deliver the football on time and in the right spot. That would be a massive upgrade for Chicago.
