Oregon football’s front-7 is about to get frighteningly good in a hurry

Oregon football is setting itself up to win multiple championships.

Oregon football is becoming a recruiting monster over on the West Coast.

Since Mario Cristobal came over from Alabama in 2017 to be Willie Taggart’s offensive line coach/co-offensive coordinator, the Oregon Ducks have really amped it up in the recruiting department. With Cristobal’s arrival, there is no coincidence, only supreme recruiting excellence from the Oregon head football coach.

If you look at this graphic by FOX College Football, three of the top five recruits in Oregon football history have a shot at playing alongside each other on the Ducks’ front-seven this fall: Sophomore defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux and two incoming freshmen in linebackers Justin Flowe and Noah Sewell. Good luck to the rest of the Pac-12 for dealing with that in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Oregon’s front-seven is becoming the scariest thing you’ll ever see.

Thibodeaux might be the best sophomore in the country this season. We’re looking at a potential top-five pick in the 2022 NFL Draft as soon as he’s eligible. Flowe was Oregon’s top recruit in 2020, as the No. 6 player in the country from Upland, California. Sewell joins his older brother in offensive line standout and arguably the teams’ best player Penei Sewell out of Orem, Utah.

If you want to be even more blown away, here are the comparisons 247Sports had for Thibodeaux, Flowe and Noah Sewell coming out of high school. Thibodeaux could be the next Robert Quinn, Flowe projects out to be Reuben Foster and Sewell could be Devin White. We’re talking about three blue-chip NFL prospects who showed their dominance while in college.

While none of the three guys mentioned can even drink a beer legally yet, they bode well for a very bright future at Oregon. The Ducks can make the College Football Playoff this year for the first time since 2014. It would be shocking if Flowe and Sewell don’t play in a national semifinal game before they potentially turn pro as juniors after the 2022 NCAA season. The Ducks are loaded.

Oregon’s recruiting under Cristobal is significant for two reasons. One, the Ducks are eating the USC Trojans’ lunch eight days a week on the West Coast. USC may be the traditional power in the Pac-12, but Oregon is the new power these days. And two, by winning in the trenches, Oregon can hopefully contend with the likes of Clemson, Ohio State or the SEC on a big playoff stage.

If you want to see excellence grow up fast, watch the Oregon front-seven this fall.
