The Kansas City Royals got revenge in 2015 and took down the New York Mets to win the World Series.

The Kansas City Royals entered the 2015 season hoping to avenge a brutal seven-game World Series defeat at the hands of the San Francisco Giants. The team proved it wasn’t all a fluke and actually got better, winning 95 games and advancing to the World Series once again.

The New York Mets had their own magical run and were stacked with top pitching talent. Were fans in store for another seven-game series? Not quite. The Royals won it in five games, taking both the first and final games of the series in extra innings.

Stars like Eric Hosmer, Salvador Perez, Lorenzo Cain, and Edinson Volquez shone bright for the Royals. But there were several non-stars who played major roles in bringing a World Series back to Kansas City.

Whether it be for a clutch hit or a dominant inning on the mound, these players deserve lasting recognition for their contributions. Diehard Royals fans likely haven’t forgotten, but let’s take a look back at three players who deserve much more credit for helping the Royals take down the Mets in the 2015 World Series.
