Draftkings European Tour Golf: Austrian Open Player Selections
By Hans Geevers
This Thursday, the European Tour returns from it’s suspension of play with the Austrian Open! Let’s take a look at this event from a Draftkings perspective.
Before I dive into my Draftkings player selections I wanted to clearly emphasize that this article will not provide a specific lineup for this week’s European Tour event.
Having stated that, this article will present multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to take down a Draftkings showdown contest! Hopefully, I can play a small part in helping someone win!
Here are my Draftkings player selections for the 2020 Austrian Open!
Joost Luiten $11,200
I am generally not a person that wants to go with the highest priced golfer on a given slate. However, in my opinion, sometimes you just have to do it. That is certainly the case with Joost Luiten this week. Why? Well, for me, there is little doubt that Luiten is far and away the best golfer in the Austrian Open field. Let me provide some clear data to support my previous statement.
Luiten has played 11 tournaments on the European Tour since October 2019. In those 11 events just mentioned, Luiten has an impressive seven top 25 finishes, including a tenth place result at the Oman Open in February.
Additionally, I like the fact that Luiten has played well at this event in the past. Luiten won the 2013 Austrian Open, which was also played at the Diamond Country Club.
Conner Syme $10,000
Syme has four top 22 finishes in his last seven events on the European Tour, including a ninth place result at the Mauritius Open in December. He also finished second at the 2018 Austrian Open.
Gregory Bourdy $7,800
He finished 29th at the Amundi Open de France in October. Additionally, Bourdy has three previous top eight finishes at the Austrian Open, including a sixth place result in 2016.
Robin Sciot-Siegrist $7,400
The 27 year old finished third at the ISPS Handa Vic Open in February. He currently ranks 11th in driving accuracy (66.26%) and 23rd in average putts per round (28.94) on the European Tour.
Marc Warren $7,000
Warren finished 45th at the South African Open in January. He also finished 31st at the 2017 Austrian Open.
Per Langfors $6,600
He finished 28th at the Porsche European Open in September of last year. I think Langfors is worth a shot at the low Draftkings price of only $6,600.
As always, good luck!
