10 NFL head coaches under the most pressure in 2020
Belichick is going to finish his career as one of the best coaches in NFL history. This year might determine whether or not he’s widely considered to be the absolute best coach in league history. Observers are very interested to see just how good New England can be without Tom Brady at the helm.
Of course, a healthy Cam Netwon could give Belichick another All-Pro signal-caller to work with. The odds are stacked against Newton staying healthy for a full 16-game season though. That means Belichick is likely going to have to work his magic with Jarrett Stidham or Brian Hoyer for meaningful games this year.
Belichick’s blueprint for success will be to use his elite defense to prop up a burgeoning offense. The Patriots may not finish at the top of the NFL standings on defense again this year, but the group is still going to be really good. The questions are almost entirely on the offensive side of the football.
Look for Belichick to lean heavily on his superb offensive line to cover up for any weaknesses at the skill positions. The goal for New England will be to maintain their stranglehold on the division. If Belichick does that without Brady it will cement his legacy as the best coach in modern NFL history.
