10 NFL head coaches under the most pressure in 2020
The Chargers would love to keep Lynn because of his terrific relationship with his players. Unfortunately, he doesn’t appear to be the sort of coach to help a team that’s prepared to start what could be a lengthy rebuild.
Los Angeles will try to start the year with Tyrod Taylor at quarterback and see if they can grind their way into the playoff picture. The chances of that being successful are relatively small. The Justin Herbert era is going to start the moment it becomes clear the Chargers aren’t going to qualify for the postseason.
Lynn doesn’t have the offensive credentials to help a young quarterback develop at a rapid rate. That’s going to cause the Chargers to pull the plug on his tenure as soon as Herbert seizes the starting quarterback position.
The Chargers probably won’t be the first franchise to make a head coaching change, but they might be the safest bet to make a switch at some point during the 2020 season. Lynn juts doesn’t profile as the right guy to help Herbert take control of the franchise. Los Angeles will be shopping for an offensive guru by midseason.
