Could any of these five players sign with Oklahoma football in 2021?

Oklahoma football has a shot at a top-10 class if the Sooners land a few more big commitments.

According to 247Sports, the Oklahoma Sooners have the No. 14 class for 2021 and the No. 2 class in the Big 12 behind the arch-rival Texas Longhorns. They have 11 commits, including five-star dual-threat quarterback Caleb Williams out of Washington, D.C., who committed to play at OU on the Fourth of July live on CBS Sports HQ.

While there really wasn’t much of a debate over Oklahoma getting William’s commitment, Lincoln Riley and his coaching staff need to pick up the pace in the recruiting department. Of Oklahoma’s 10 other commits, only six of them have four-star ratings or better in the 247Sports system. Though Oklahoma has time to make up some ground, the Sooners need to finish in the top 10.

Fortunately for OU, the Sooners have a boatload of top-200 recruits seriously looking at playing their college football for Riley in Norman. There are at least three five-stars who show a good bit of interest in Oklahoma football. If the Sooners can land even one more five-star, it should make up for a tremendous class along with Williams’ commitment out of the nation’s capital.

While the Sooners may not end up with the biggest class in this cycle, they should be able to get into the high teens with at least a handful of other solid commitments. If they are able to land any of these five top recruits, it would go a long way in helping them get back into the top 10 and possibly overtake Texas for the best recruiting class in the Big 12 in 2021.

Here are the five players most likely to sign with Oklahoma football.

OT. Tristan Leigh. 5. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Robinson Secondary School (Fairfax, VA). 815

Though it does feel very much like an outside shot, the Sooners have a decent chance of landing the No. 11 player in the country in offensive tackle Tristan Leigh of Fairfax, Virginia. The Robinson Secondary School standout is 6-foot-5 and 270 pounds. He is the No. 2 player from Virginia and the No. 3 offensive tackle prospect in the eyes of the 247Sports Composite.

Leigh has 40 official offers. While he is the highest on the Clemson Tigers and the LSU Tigers, Oklahoma is on a list of five other teams in contention for his commitment. That second-tier quintet includes the Alabama Crimson Tide, the Maryland Terrapins, the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Penn State Nittany Lions, along with Oklahoma. What are the odds Leigh comes to Norman?

247Sports has him tied for second-best with LSU and Penn State at 12 percent, trailing his clear leader in Clemson at a staggering 62 percent. With Maryland nearby and Ohio State not all that far away from the DMV, we can’t cross those two schools of just yet either. Leigh’s primary recruiter is offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh, who has landed one five-star recruiter before at Oklahoma.

A reason Leigh may consider the Sooners is he’d get to block for the best quarterback prospect in this class in Williams. Though Norman is the furthest location away from Fairfax geographically, the Sooners would provide him with one of the best chances to play in the College Football Playoff with any regularity. Don’t count on Leigh going there, but don’t rule it out just yet either.
