The Baltimore Ravens have put a cap on how many fans can go to their games.

The Baltimore Ravens will have reduced seating capacity for the 2020 NFL season.

Per the team website, if fans are to be in attendance at Ravens games this year, expect fewer than 14,000 people at each football game. As with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Ravens enacted a similar policy to have season ticket holders’ packages deferred to 2021 at no charge. What is different than the Chiefs is Baltimore actually put a number on how many fans may attend.

“To offer a proper level of safety for fans who want to attend games, a reduction in capacity is necessary,” stated Ravens president Dick Cass. “We are disappointed that this will be a disruption for many ticket buyers, but we have an obligation to our fans and our community to keep M&T Bank Stadium as safe as possible.”

“With over 62,000 season tickets already sold, there is no equitable way to accommodate in a limited stadium capacity all PSL Owners who are interested in maintaining season tickets for 2020,” stated senior vice president of ticket sales and operations Baker Koppelman.

“Under these unusual circumstances, it’s best to simplify the ticket sales process and allow fans to decide which games they want to attend, while giving our PSL Owners priority in accessing tickets.”

Only 14,000 people at most will be able to attend Ravens games this year.

With 2020 single-game tickets being discontinued and refunded already, it will be interesting to see how the Ravens go about allocating their 62,000 season tickets to only 14,000 available seats. With a 71,000 capacity, this is a little shy of 20 percent full.

Given that Baltimore has one of the better teams in the AFC this season, one would think as many people in the Charm City possible would love to cheer on their favorite football team.

However, it seems a great deal of Ravens Flock will have to settle for tuning into the ball game on television or over radio than making the trek to Russell Street. The Ravens aren’t the only team in the NFL that will have to deal with the coronavirus, as they all will. Other teams outside of the Chiefs and Ravens will soon release their own press releases about how to handle the situation.

Baltimore capping its game attendance at 14,000 is a sign of how different things are in 2020.
