Troy Daniels showed us what’s for dinner, and the internet ate it up

Who would have guessed that the NBA’s Disney bubble idea would get off to a rocky start?

The visceral image of an NBA bubble, in which players will live in quarantine and emerge only to play basketball in the middle of a global pandemic, has become quite literal.

While the players won’t be wrapped in plastic while living in the NBA’s bubble, their food certainly will be. Troy Daniels shared a picture of the food he was being served, based off a menu mandated by the league as though the bubble is some sort of summer camp, and it was less than impressive.

In what can be best described as bad airline food passing as a cuisine course, Daniels showing the world what athletes looking to keep their bodies in peak physical condition will be fueling themselves only reinforces what a terrible idea most people think the bubble idea is.

A bag of chips. A plastic tub of fruit. A roll (that, let’s be real, was probably not warm).

Needless to say, when Daniels showed the world what he was eating for dinner, the internet had a field day with both how unintentionally hilarious it was and how what a farce the entire idea seems to be.

Some people were quick to point out, however, that what Daniels showed wasn’t actually the entire meal but simply the appetizer:

The real meal was actually a lot less embarrassing than the measly tray of food you’d expect to get from a Spirit Airlines flight.

Whew, what a journey that was.

Now imagine what it’s going to be like to watch the events inside the NBA’s Disney bubble unfold over the course of the next few months. Buckle up and get your tray of vendor snacks ready, it’s going to be quite a ride.
