George Kittle makes it clear he won’t be holding out this summer

George Kittle has been a model player for the San Francisco 49ers both on and off the field ever since he arrived to the Bay Area. This week, the superstar tight end showed that to be the case once again in a big way.

With an upcoming extension coming for Kittle, there’s been rumors that the 6-4, 250-pounder could end up being a holdout if he doesn’t get his big bucks before the start of the season. Kittle went ahead and dismissed any worry of that with an absolute bang.

That’s just powerful stuff from Kittle, who is undoubtedly one of the top tight ends in the league. He’s massively underpaid, though. In 2019, he made just $645,000. In 2020, he’s set to make a little over $2 million. Both he and his agent know San Francisco needs to put some big-time money on the table, but they understand as well that they can’t rush into things.

“George is a very special player. He needs a special contract,” agent Jack Bechta said earlier this year via NBC Sports. “And those things take time for both sides. It’s a nice problem for everybody to have.

“At the end of the day, I trust the Niners will do the right thing and take good care of George, as they should. But I trust the process. I won’t comment where we’re at, or numbers or anything like that. But hopefully it gets done.”

Kittle had an incredible 2019 campaign, catching 85 balls for 1,050 yards and five touchdowns. He and Jimmy Garoppolo have incredible chemistry together and it’s only going to get stronger. The tight end will have to wait a little longer to get his huge extension, but it feels like it’ll be coming on the sooner side.
