Richard Sherman calls out the NFL for absurd new jersey-exchanging ban
Richard Sherman has no time for a new rule created by the NFL for the 2020 season.
The NFL initially had the benefit of time when it came to planning a season during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Yet that time is running out as training camp is set to begin in just a few weeks.
The league is coming up with rules in an attempt to keep players safe during the season. But how is physical distancing going to take place in a contact sport like football?
One plan is to prevent players from exchanging jerseys following a game. San Francisco 49ers veteran Richard Sherman immediately tweeted out what everyone was already thinking.

Richard Sherman calls out the obvious
This new rule almost seems like a joke. Players are going to be in close contact for an entire game and the precautions only come in after all the tackles and pile-ups take place for 60 minutes. A quick jersey swap is nowhere near as close and personal as one single tackle during the game.
The only true way to prevent close contact would be to not even play the games in the first place. Rules such as a ban on swapping jerseys comes off as hypocritical and it took no time at all for a veteran like Sherman to see that.
The NFL seems set on having a season played in 2020, even if that means having no fans in the stands. There are still a lot of logistics to be figured out and the league may want to focus on larger issues than a quick jersey swap following a game of tackle football. Time is running out and the players may not like any more hypocritical rules.
