Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 124. OT. . Eric Fisher. 1

Eric Fisher has spent his entire career with the Chiefs since being taken No. 1 overall in 2013. Yet the offensive tackle has only made one Pro Bowl and was limited to eight games during the 2019 season.

He is now the highest-paid offensive lineman on the team and will turn 30 years old in January. His play has not matched his pay and that makes Fisher a clear candidate to be released after 2020 with his $14.68 million cap hit, compared to a dead cap value of $3.1 million.

The Chiefs will likely make calls about trading Fisher as well. However, it will be hard for a team to take on that contract when he can likely be signed for much less once he is released.

At this point there is no logical reason why the Chiefs would give Fisher an extension near the money he is making right now. That is also true for teams around the NFL.

Fisher has been a mainstay since being taken No. 1 overall, but fans must also remember 2020 will be his eighth season in the NFL. That is a lot of wear and tear for an offensive lineman and the team can focus on getting younger at the position and make it a priority in the draft. This also saves money and can pair up Mahomes with lineman for the duration of his contract.
