RB. Scouting Report. San Francisco 49ers. Jerick McKinnon. 2. player. 42. Pick Analysis

Back in 2018, the 49ers were in search for a new starting running back after they let Carlos Hyde hit the open market. They thought they got that in the form of Jerick McKinnon, who signed a four-year, $30 million deal. The deal turned out to be an unintentional, unmitigated disaster for the 49ers. In that year’s training camp, McKinnon tore his ACL. Last summer, McKinnon suffered a setback from his surgery and was immediately placed on the season-ending injured reserve.

For those of you thinking that McKinnon will be cut prior to the start of the 2020 season, that’s not happening. McKinnon wanted to remain with the 49ers this year so badly, that he restructured his contract and will now be paid a base salary of $910,000.

2020 will be McKinnon’s last hurrah in San Francisco, no matter if the 49ers give Raheem Mostert a contract or honor his request for a trade.
